Also known as lues, an infectious disease transmitted through sexual intercourse by bacteria of the species Treponema pallidum. Syphilis can be effectively treated with antibiotics. In the case of non-treatment, which is rare in countries with good medical care, late complications can occur after years, which can lead to aortic aneurysm, among other things.
