Control processes that keep the blood in a narrow pH window of 7.4 (±0.05). Due to its sensitive structures (e.g. proteins), the body cannot tolerate values outside this range. Thus, through respiration and the kidney acid or basic valences are eliminated. In addition, the tissue and the blood itself can buffer pH rashes to a certain extent.
