Epithelioid Cells

Epitheloid cells are epithelium-like cells that can secrete enzymes. They are thought to produce the hormone renin, a protease, which splits angiotensinogen into angiotensin I. Angiotensin I can then be split into Angiotensin II which is a highly effective vasoconstrictor and can therefore increase blood pressure.
