Melanin

Melanins are reddish, brown or black pigments which enzymeatically consist of the amino acid tyrosine can be synthesized. In humans, they cause the coloration of the skin, hair or eyes. Melanins are formed in the melanocytes of the skin and in the retina of the eye.
