Alcohols

Chemical compounds having one or more hydroxy groups (-O-H) attached to aliphatic carbon atoms.

Alcohol is the colloquial term for ethyl alcohol which belongs to the group of alcohols. It is produced by the fermentation of sugar from various raw materials and has an intoxicating effect. Alcohol is a legal drug.
