Photoreceptors

The photoreceptors - cones and rods - the second neuron are the so-called bipolar cells. These cells of the retina transmit the information of the light-sensitive rods and cones vertically to the third neurons, the retinal ganglion cells. The bipolar cells thus connect the outer or retinal ganglion cells and inner or photoreceptors via synapses.
