Bile

Bile is a foul smelling, yellow, viscous liquid composed of bile acids or their amides with glycine and taurine, bilirubin, water and cholesterol.

It is produced in the liver, stored in the gallbladder, poured into the small intestine at mealtimes and serves to digest fat. Bile plays an important role in the absorption of fatsn from food. It is also used to excrete various substances from the body such as cholesterol, bilirubin and many medicines and their metabolic products.

Die Gallebildung ist wesentlich für das Gleichgewicht des Cholesterins im Körper.
