Basalioma

The basalioma is the most common malignant skintumor. It is also known as basal cell carcinoma because it develops from the basal cells of the epidermis. The tumor is also known as ″heller Hautkrebs″ - as a differentiation from the much rarer black skin cancer (melanoma), which often looks like a very dark mole.

Genetic factors and long-term exposure to the sun are the main causes of a basalioma. It occurs in parts of the body exposed to sunlight: preferably on the face (basalioma accounts for about 90 percent of all eyelid tumors), ears, scalp and throat.

Aus einer zunächst unauffälligen, knotigen Veränderung, häufig mit kleinen Äderchen im Randbereich, entwickelt sich über Monate und Jahre ein glasiger, kugeliger Tumor mit aufgeworfenem, perlschnurartigen Rand.
