Bradykinin is a tissue hormone with a vasoactive effect. It increases vascular permeability and is involved in the control of inflammatory processes. Here it has a similar effect as the tissue hormone histamine. It is a biologically active peptide and is produced from kininogen by the action of kallikreinen. First callidine and then bradykinine are formed. Kinins increase minute volume, lower blood pressure by vasodilatation, increase capillary permeability and have bronchoconstrictor effects.
