Pharmaceuticals that promote renal excretion. Diuretics are therefore diuretic drugs. They promote the washing out of edemas and relieve the heart by reducing the afterload. Two substance groups are mainly used for this purpose: Thiazides and Loop Diuretics. Thiazides moderately stimulate urine flow, while loop diuretics work faster and more efficiently.
