GIP - Glucose-dependent insulinotropic peptide or gastrin inhibiting peptide - has the main effect of stimulating insulin secretion in the B cells of the pancreas after food intake. An inhibition of the GIP effect reduces the development of obesity and insulin resistance in a high-fat diet.
