Icterus

Jaundice: yellowish discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes as well as internal organs and - especially early - the sclera of the eyes due to the transfer of biliary dyes from the blood into the body tissues, especially bilirubin in hyperbilirubinemia (from approx. 34 μmol/l = 2 mg/dl total bilirubin in serum).
