Cancer

The origin of the name "cancer" cannot be exactly located. Hippocrates was apparently the first to name a breast ulcer after it, because he recognized a certain resemblance to the species. Aristotle and Galenus adopted these terms for neighboring organs infiltrating tumors (the swollen veins around a tumor resemble the legs of the crustacean).
