The M-phase is the actual cell division or mitosis. The genetic material is now visible in the form of a double set of chromosomes. Within a few minutes, the cell divides into 2 identical daughter cells. The chromosomes and cytoplasm are divided between the two cells and the cell cycle starts all over again.
