Sodium-Potassium Pump

Transport protein of the cell membrane, bound to membrane lipids. Possesses ATP-cleaving function (ATPase) and thus gains the energy to actively pump Na+ out of the cell, whereby in return K+ is transported into the cell interior. For each hydrolyzed ATP, 3 sodium and 2 potassium ions are transported.
