Transdermal systems, abbreviated TTS, are glued to the skin. They contain a reservoir from which the active ingredient diffuses and is absorbed through the skin. The advantage of the TTS is the possibility of fixing a depot of the active substance to the body, from which the active substance is released into the body as in an infusion. Only active ingredients that 1. are able to overcome the skin barrier, 2. are effective in the smallest dose and 3. show low side effects due to the uniform dosage are considered.
