The term transport proteins refers to all proteins that assume transport functions.
Among the transport proteins we count
1. the transmembrane proteins (transport hydrophilic substances into the cells) and
2. the substance-binding serum proteins (transport lipophilic substances).
The first group includes carrier proteins and ion channels and the second group albumins, hemoglobin, transferrin, lipoproteins and many others.
