Border Strand

The border strand runs in pairs (on both sides) directly next to the spine and contains the cell body of the preganglionic nerve fibres, which bring information to the internal organs. It can be seen as a kind of distributor for the preganglionic sympathetic nerve fibers coming from the spinal cord.
