Haematogenic Metastasis

As soon as a tumour has reached a size at which it is vascularised and begins to grow into its environment, individual tumour cells or groups of tumour cells detach from the primary tumour and are transported away via the bloodstream. Various experiments suggest that only certain cancer cells have the ability to detach from the primary tumor and enter the blood vessels.
