Nucleus

A cell nucleus is a component of the eukaryotic cell that is located in the cell or cytoplasm and is usually round in shape.

It is separated from the cell plasma by a double membrane, the nuclear envelope. It contains the genetic material of the cell in the form of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).

The cell nucleus can be understood as the information and control centre of the cell.
